LLAMA.AI ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE — Import/export

Timeframe: Summer 2019 - April 2020

Client: LLamasoft

Project Type: UX Design and Research, Visual Design, Interaction Design, Web Design

Software Used: Sketch, Adobe XD, Zeplin

Project Overview

My first task as a part time UX Engineer at LLamasoft was to redesign how users interact with importing and exporting excel files on LLamasoft’s enterprise cloud based software, LLama.ai. This redesigned incorporated how they will be notified of a successful upload completion, error handling, and more. This was a solo project that I did, but I collaborated with others on the UX team as well as the Business Analyst assigned to the project.

Goals:

  • Design user-friendly notifications + toast notifications

  • Design the flyout that appeared when user clicked “Import” or “Export”

  • Create the copy that would be displayed on the respective flyout, guiding the user through the import or export process

  • Design any necessary modals, such as error messages

Process

Whenever I begin any project, I make sure I understand how its used to the best of my ability, and this project was no different. After I got a good grasp of what the feature was used for and understood my stakeholders needs, I got to work. I first got started on the flyouts that users would see when importing a file and when exporting a file.

Once I was satisfied by the workflow and tested it with my team, I did an extensive amount of research on toast notifications. Toast notifications are used throughout the LLamasoft Platform, so I wanted to make sure they were going to be used for the same type of instances such as successful/unsuccessful import/export and more. Below you can find my final designs as well as my research.

Lessons Learned

  1. Feedback is key. This was my first solo project that I did remotely, so scheduling meetings with my coworkers often helped me bounce off ideas as well as make sure I’m on the right track. Thankfully, I felt free to explore my own ideas as well and was supported by a great team.

Below you can find my research that I compiled using Miro.
